Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and keeps us alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words-- Rei that means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki that is the “life force energy.” So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
The practice of Reiki dates back more than three thousand years ago to ancient Tibet. In the late 1800s, Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered the “Reiki healing method” in Japan.
How does it work?
The true essence of Reiki is a pure heart filled with light and a desire to give and receive healing.
There is no wrong way to administer Reiki because it is energy in and of itself. It will flow exactly where it needs to for the benefit of each individual person.
What takes place during a session?
Surrounded by soothing music in a peaceful setting, the client relaxes comfortably on a massage table.
Reiki Practitioner/Master places his/her hands on energy centres of your body, allowing the release of blocked energies thereby restoring regular balance.
At no time during the session is there any physical manipulation of the body. The client remains fully clothed at all times.
How often do I need a session?
Reiki can be received daily with no harmful effect. The frequency of treatments is left to the discretion of the individual. If a client is experiencing an overall sense of wellness, he or she may be satisfied with fewer sessions. However, if a client is suffering from chronic illness or discomfort, it is recommended that the client consider more frequent Reiki sessions to assist in controlling the pain and/or relieving stress levels.
