Acupressure

What is Acupressure ?

Acupressure is an ancient Chinese technique based on the principles of acupuncture, and involves the use of finger pressure (without any needles) on specific points along the body. Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres in the body. "Acu" means needle and "pressure" is force,i.e force applied by needles. However, needles are used in Acupuncture and not in Acupressure.

What is the purpose of Acupressure ?

The purpose of acupressure is to stimulate the body's own recuperative powers by stimulating the various points on the body.By applying thumb or finger pressure of 2 to 20 lbs on a specific point the bio-electrical current is made to flow and diffuse the toxic build up causing stiffness or mal-functioning in the body. On application of pressure on specific points over a period of time in different sittings, the pain is gradually reduced and health is restored.
